The Jamaican tradition says so: every reggae album deserves a dub double, in which the mixing technique strips the original compositions to the bone and becomes an autonomous form of art.

The dub declination of Mellow Mood’s latest record (Mañana, 2022) will be published on May 26th, 2023. Mañana Dub is crafted by renowned producer Paolo Baldini DubFiles, the mastermind behind the band’s sound.

Baldini’s work aims at giving new life to the original songs articulating his musical discovery along two parallel tracks: on one hand a self-imposed technical limitation, enabling him to overcome a sort of artistic horror vacui through the selection of a finite range of old-school effects and outboards; on the other hand, the overcoming of such limitation was made possible by the knowledgeable use of MIDI technology, through which Baldini transforms riffs, harmonies and melodies.
